THE ORTHODOX Christians of Eastern Europe celebrated the ceremony of the baptism of Jesus Christ by retrieving the Crosses by wading and swimming in water bodies. The Greek Orthodox Christian community observed the Epiphany ceremony of the Blessing of the Waters in a big way.
The observance is also related to Jesus' revelation as the son of God and biblical Magi. The word 'Epiphany' stands for manifestation of the essence or real meaning of a phenomenon as sudden flash of inspiration or revelation. On January six, in the western churches, the followers and faithful celebrate the Incarnation of the infant Christ to mark the occasion.
