Chrome from Google
Everything that you guys have heard about the Google Chrome is all very true. It is based on WebKit rendering engine powered by Google Gears and introduces narrative approaches of interacting. It is indeed very exciting to see all these occurrences.

GOOGLE CHROME seems to be a very promising browser, on the top of it is open source. Some of the eye-catching features of Google Chrome are:

One box approach

Web search, web history, address bar, suggestions as you type. One unified box serves all your browsing needs. Type in the address bar and get suggestions for both search and web pages. This makes it very easy to search a keyword or a webpage. Users have to make few mouse movements and click, which saves a lot of time for PC-glued people. Also this allows a huge viewable space for displaying website.

Thumbnails of your top sites

All the recently and frequently visited pages are placed on the home page or a blank page. Access your favourite pages instantly with lightning speed from any new tab.

Shortcuts for your applications

Get desktop shortcuts to launch your favourite web applications. Use web applications without opening your browser. Application shortcuts can directly load your favourite online applications

Multi tabs

Multi tabbing is a technique, in which you can open multiple instance of a website in a single open window of the browser. This technology is said to be introduced by the Mozilla Firefox. Not only this, you also have a facility to drag and drop these tabs to desired location on the browser. Will not forget to mention, it enhances your experience on web.

What makes Google Chrome different is its architecture. The browser is no longer single-threaded process. Each tab is actually a separate process with own memory space. I am not sure if we are talking about threads or actual programme instances, but what is more important is that when you close a tab, you are virtually terminating the process. At least, this is what Google says.

Crash control

Every tab you’re using is run independently in the browser, so if one application crashes, it won’t take anything else down. Use the Task Manager to get details about a specific process running in Google Chrome, or to force a misbehaving tab or application to close. To open the Task Manager you can press Shift+Esc and terminate the process that is resource hungry.

Safe browsing

These days with the advent of daily phishing and malware attack online…Chrome has taken care to tackle such issues. It notifies the user if they are about to visit a suspected phishing, malware or otherwise unsafe website.

Chrome comes with an built-in popup blocker for safe and hassle-free browsing experience. It has a unique "incognito" mode that shall protect your privacy and not collect history for the time you are in incognito mode.

Importing settings

After reading, you must just want to get this cute little browser on your desktop… and you will love it for this feature. When you switch to Google Chrome from some other browser, you can pick up where you left off with all the bookmarks and passwords from your existing browser and those will get added to Chrome to make your migration hassle-free.

Okay, now few drawbacks, we faced in Merinews Labs while testing it.

a. Google Chrome is a Beta version, which means it might have flaws and it might be risky to use if it has any major security flaw. Security is the major problem with Google Chrome.

b. The download manager is not much efficient, it may drop the downloads in middle if the bandwidth is low.

c. Some links open in same tab if we press scrolled of the mouse, unlike Firefox that opens the link in new tab.

With many attractive features that make your online experience different, Google Chrome has a bright future ahead, but it will also need to focus on the security issue on a priority basis.

I would like to conclude saying, you can use Google Chrome for testing and non-priority purpose. But we highly recommend you to use Firefox or any other final release browsers for secure transactions.
