CII to come up with a job portal for SC/ST youths in collaboration with NACDOR
Apex industry body CII has signed agreement with National Confederation of Dalit Organizations (NACDOR) to support the affirmative action agenda of the industry by creating a job portal and creating the data bank of the skilled youth belonging to SC/ST community in different areas.

THE AIM of this agreement is to provide a basis for close cooperation between CII Northern Region and NACDOR towards ensuring timely and efficient job portal services for the candidates from the SC/ST community. The purpose of initiating the job portal is to generate employment opportunities for the youths belonging to SC/ST community.

CII’s responsibilities will include promoting and inviting its members to register with the portal for the openings available in their units and getting feedback from its members on various skills needed and convey the same to NACDOR for necessary action, a statement by the industry said.

NACDOR would create, maintain and update the appropriate data bank of the candidates with different skill sets on the job portal.

CII and NACDOR have also entered into cooperation with the object of jointly promoting the mechanisms being developed and operated under NACDOR’s Community Development Accountability Plans Fair Opportunity Initiative to fulfill the need of providing equal opportunities in education, employability, employment and entrepreneurship to the Dalit population of India through various affirmative action measures being promoted by CII’s affirmative action plan.

Both the parties shall make every effort to make this a successful, effective and continued operation for monitoring and improving the implementation of affirmative action in private sector industry.

wow... a naukri.com with reservation? And what are they going to showcase there? How many SC/ST reserved jobs available in TCS, IBM? Because if they are talking about jobs at a grassroot level to help the poor tribal people, they should have thought about teaching them computers first.

If the move aims to empower the real SC/ST people at grassroot level, then I would say its a stupid waste of money. People who access internet and job portals do not need help from CII. In fact these are the people who should not be getting benefit of their SC/ST tag. The actual people who need support have no access to internet and will not be able to know about these jobs. It will be best if the money is used to run a locally distributed print copy of a Job tabloid.

This is a good move. However, the real success will lie in the diversity of jobs they can cater to and how they reach upto the rural level where the penetration of internet is low.

This is a good initiative by CII. SC / ST students will surely be benefited.
