TOYOTA KIRLOSKAR Motor (TKM) on Friday hosted ‘Toyota Classics 2010- World Of Harmony’, a charity concert at Jamshed Bhabha Theatre, National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA). Globally renowned Italian Orchestra – Citta di Firenze along with well known conductor Lorenzo Castriota Skanderbeg, famous tenor Leonardo Melani and talented young Vietnamese pianist Luu Hong Quang, delighted the audience with their classical Italian music.
The performance included concertos and symphonies by great composers such as Verdi, Puccini and Rossini. The concert also featured a special performance by a special guest, the illustrious Saxophonist Padmashree Dr. Kadri Gopalnath. His rendition of a carnatic music piece on the saxophone added an Indian flavour to the evening.The beneficiary of the Toyota Classics 2010 is Child Rights and You (CRY). The donation cheque of Rs. 17 lakhs was presented to Ratan Batliboi, Trustee, CRY by Mrs. Kirloskar, wife of Vikram Kirloskar, Vice Chairman (TKM) and Mrs. Nakagawa, wife of Hiroshi Nakagawa, Managing Director (TKM).
Apart from this a sum of Rs. 3 Lakhs was also donated to Mehli Mehta Foundation - an education group that trains and encourages children to learn music.Toyota Classics is a cultural programme initiated by Toyota in 1990. Over the past two decades the Toyota Classics has attracted audiences of more than 200,000 to 154 concerts, raising funds for charitable organizations, in the Asia-Pacific. Toyota Classics - a biennial event - was brought to India for the first time in 2008. In its 21st year, the event was held from Oct. 23 to Nov. 12 in Kuala Lumpur, Hanoi, Bandar Seri Begawan (Brunei), Bangkok, Seoul, Taipei (Taiwan), Manila and Mumbai.
