Manchester City outplayed Manchester United in the all important Manchester derby where City thrashed United 4-1 at the Etihad Stadium. With this victory, Manchester City has jumped to third position on the standings table, while Manchester United lie on eighth place.
Manchester United has had one of their worst start to their EPL campaign in recent years, where they have already lost two matches in the five played so far accumulating only seven points. They were defeated by Liverpool of late and this time it was Manchester City, who put up a spirited display to make United's EPL campaign look more disappointing.
Sergio Aguero found the back of the net twice, while Yaya Toure and Nasri scored one each. The only consolation for Manchester United was the spectacular free kick, which Wayne Rooney
scored in the second half, but earlier in the game, he had missed an easy chance to score a goal as well.
This was the first Manchester derby for both the new managers, Manuel Pellegrini for City and David Moyes for United. David Moyes might have never been embarrassed by Manchester City in such a manner, when he was in-charge of Everton, but it would be interesting to note as to how does Moyes get the better out of his team, which will also be down in confidence with such an embarrassing loss.
It was very unfortunate for Moyes that his star striker, as Van Persie was ruled out of the derby due to a groin strain. His absence was felt in the game by Manchester United as they lacked the much required venom to penetrate Manchester City's tight defence.
