Civilian army cricket matches in Kashmir
'We are here for the peace and development of the area by conducting peaceful relations with the people' added Brigadier Sahai, while addressing audiences. He also affirmed that games play a major role in maintaining peace, prosperity and unity.

TO INCREASE civilian-army contact in Kashmir, the Goodwill cricket tournament was inaugurated on Sunday, November 22, by the Army in the sports stadium in Bandipora. The tournament would played among 16 teams from various parts of the district. The event is being organised by the district cricket Sports Association and Sponsored by the 18th Mount Brigade.

The tournament was inaugurated by Brigadier Rajesh Sahai in presence of senior citizens and senior sportsmen in the Sher-i-Kashmir Sports stadium here in Bandipora. Sahai said “The Army is highly thankful to the sportsmen of the area who are cooperating with the army in conducting friendly and goodwill ventures in the area. ”
 
“We are here for the peace and development of the area by conducting peaceful relations with the people” added Brigadier Sahai, while addressing audiences. He also affirmed that games play a major role in maintaining peace, prosperity and unity in a nation and developing sportsmanship.
 
The District Sports Association President Nizamudin Wani, appreciated the role of the army in conducting the tournament. He said,“Such tournaments prove highly beneficial for our youths in gaining sports experience”
 
The inaugural match was played between Iqra Sports Club, Dachigam and Sports Club Bandipora which the latter won by 118 runs, at a loss of four wickets. Ayaz Ahmed of Sports Club Bandipora was declared man of the match for his brilliant 42 runs.
