The Manchester derby fought between two teams of the English Premier League, Manchester United and Manchester City has always been one of the most awaited game of the season for the sheer excitement, which these two teams bring on the field. Hence, this fixture to be played at Etihad Stadium this Sunday is expected to be an exciting affair, which could go either way.
Neither City, nor United have started their campaign well, as they have already been defeated in the competition. Both teams share the same points (7) on the standings table from a possible 12 points, after having played four matches each. The team, which would win the derby would overtake the other in the standings table, which in itself is a moral victory so early in the competition.
One look at the squad of both teams reflect the strength in their respective team. Players such as Wayne Rooney
, Van Persie need to be on top of their game to produce favourable results for United. But other players such as Rio Ferdinand, Giggs, Nemanja Vidic, Carrick, Valencia need to showcase their colours in order to defeat City and climb up the points' table.
City too comprises of a number of superstars such as Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure, David Silva, Vincent Kompany, Navas, Fernandinho etc just to name a few. Their new signings such as Navas, Fernandinho might have been decent, but they need to step up their game, when they face their immediate rivals. They should be ready for a pacy game with tackles flying in from anywhere and everywhere.
Though, it might be that many of the players playing tomorrow have experienced the Manchester derby along with their respective fans, but it is going to be a new day for both the managers, David Moyes for Manchester United and Manuel Pelligrini for Manchester City.
These managers are in their first season in-charge of their respective new clubs. David Moyes has already lost one of their big matches recently against Liverpool and his team would not like to come up with a similar result against City, as they will lag behind in the title race, which many experts believe, will be the closest title race in recent years.
