Classical Concepts announces launch of Bandishein
A premier Hindustani classical music and ghazals record label Classical Concepts has announced the launch of Bandishein, a CD of Indian classical compositions by Pandit Kaivalya Kumar and its online sale on its website.

Classical Concepts, headquartered in New York, is an organisation dedicated to the promotion and propagation of Hindustani music, Indian classical and light classical and vocal, ghazals and instrumental classical music.
Pandit Kaivalya Kumar is a leading young exponent of the Kirana Gharana with a rich multigenerational lineage. He was trained by his father Pandit Sangmeshwar Gurav. His Grandfather Ganpatrao Gurav studied under two legends, Pandit Bhaskarbua Bhakle and Ustad Abdul Karim Khan. Due to this ancestry, Kaivalya Kumar is a treasure house of unusual compositions (Bandish). That is what we highlight in our album ‘Bandishein’.
Pandit Kaivalya Kumar Gurav hails from Dharwad, Karnataka. He is a young and rising star of the Kirana Gharana (tradition). He was initiated into classical music by his father Pandit Sangameshwar Gurav. Endowed with a mellifluous, fluid and high pitched tenor voice, he has achieved much recognition- Surmani, Pandit Jasraj Gaurav Puraskar and Sarva Sreshta Kalakar to name a few. He has performed at almost all the prestigious music festivals in India including Dover Lane, Harvallabh etc. He has several albums to his credit.
Bandish is the most poetic and lyrical genre of Indian classical music. Bandish derived from Persian, musically signifies a song set to a definite rhythm cycle (Taal). The Bandish of a raga highlights all the essential features in a song. It is learned in the preliminary phase by students. It is also performed by accomplished musicians to embellish and distill a raga in a dynamic format. In this album Bandishein..a musical bouquet, Pandit Kaivalya Kumar, Ashish Sengupta and Shri Ravindra Katoti take you through a beautiful journey with mesmerising tracks into the world of classical music.
“I am pleased to announce the launch of Bandishein,” said Nalini Madiwale, owner of Classical Concepts. “Classical Concepts also arranges performances and lecture-demonstrations in United States of America. We are especially interested in developing the next generation of listeners. We welcome requests for lecture-demos by music departments of middle schools, high schools and colleges in the United States,” she said. Towards this mission, the organisation sponsors recording and sale of CDs by upcoming and well known Hindustani music artists.
Presently, the website offers two premier ghazal and Indian classical music albums, Teer-E-Neemkash and Bandishein for sale online. Teer-E Neemkash is a collection of six classical ghazals performed by Nalini Madiwale while Bandishein is a compilation of rare classical compositions by Pandit Kaivalya Kumar. Both albums are now available for online purchase, with special rate for buyers in India.
In addition to online album sales, the site also offers a resource for Indian classical music glossary containing definitions to few commonly used terms in Indian classical music. Classical Concepts also welcomes booking requests for light classical ghazals and bhajans concerts. The record label will be offering concerts of Hindustani classical vocalists and instrumentalists in the near future.
