CM Kejriwal orders FIR against Mukesh Ambani, oil minister Veerappa Moil alleging KG-D6 gasgate
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has ordered his government's anti-corruption branch to register FIRs against Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) Chiarman Mukesh Ambani, present oil minister Veerappa Moily, former oil minister Murli Deora and ex-DG Hydrocarbon VK Sibal while alleging that they inflated price of gas produced from KG D6 Basin and created a fake shortage of the same in the country.
Kejriwal said that from April 1, the
gas prices could go up to $8USD per unit as against the present cost
of $4USD. Originally the RIL has a 17 year contract of selling gas at $2USD per
unit for the 17 years. Kejriwal while citing the complain he had
received said that the RIL in collusion with some ministers and
bureaucrats managed to hike the gas prices.
Kejriwal while explaining the problems
that will arise with the increase in gas rates from April 1 said, “If
gas prices increase then CNG prices will increase, electricity rates
will increase, rate of fertilizes will increase, on a whole the total
economy of India
will get effected by that.”
Kejriwal said that, he would write a
letter to the Prime Minister, and will request him to suspend the order to hike gas
rates. He will also request the PM to give a free hand to carry on the
investigations in this issue. Kejriwal will suggest the PM to give the gas
wells to state owned entities like ONGC.
Meanwhile the union oil minister
Veerappa Moily while rejecting all the accusations said,"I
should sympathize with him,he should know how govt functions, there is
certain system to fix prices."
