COACH FOR Washington Redskins, Mike Shanahan has rejected speculation that the Runnin back Clinton Portis may be released in 2010. The new Washington Redskins coach said that Clinton Portis will be returning to the team on Friday, during an appearence at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Coach Mike Shanahan said, "He's our running back.I expect him to be in great shape and do everything he can to be the best player. If he does that, I know what type of ability he has. Hopefully, he can help us win."
The speculation over Washington Redskins Running back Clinton Portis began after a rough season he had. He could only deliver 484 yards in eight games due to injuries, including one concussion that he is still recovering from. Then, there were also the fights he had with fellow teamates Jason Campbell and Mike Sellers. When Mike Shanahan took over in January, it was belived that Portis may be shown the door.
It is believed that Clinton Portis' stay has been fuelled by the experience he had with Mike Shanahan at Denver, where the running back had rushed for 3,099 yards and 29 touchdowns during the 2002 and 2003 seasons.
Shanhanan added, "I don't go back to what happened the last couple years or listen to differences of opinion. I just know what Clinton did for me. "I expect him to be in great shape and do everything he can to be the best player. If he does that, I know what type of ability he has. Hopefully, he can help us win."
