A COUPLE of days ago, I sent a message to one of my friends conveying him the fact that his appointment with some stood canceled. Unfortunately, without knowing the information, this gentleman traveled all the from his home, some 50 kilometers off this said appointment location, just to find that his appointment had been canceled and the same is set for another day.

He called me informing me the same. Then I told him about the SMS I had sent to his mobile. He reply was really shocking, “Who checks SMS nowadays? My phone receives SMS every other minute. I just ignore them.”

See how these business predators manage to get private individuals’ mobile numbers and keep on nagging them with this and that offers. And it is reported that there are many road accidents due to these cold SMSes and calls that pop up virtually interfering the attention of the mobile users.

This needs to be stopped and mobile holders should not be interfered without their consent. Any cold SMS received need to be traced and checked to find out from where the sender collected the number and why is he disturbing a recipient who never contacted the sender.

Mobile is a personal communication device and the entry to that device should be confirming to the interests of the holder of the mobile. No Tom, Dick and Harry should be able to make calls and send messages, when the mobile holder is not expecting them.

The messaging facility is designed to give the user enough user-friendliness with the devise; that is a message would not do as much inconvenience as a call does. Therefore, it is time to pull in all those who make cold calls and SMSes.This is blatant breach of privacy and it needs to be curtailed at any cost.
