College of nursing inaugurated in Hyderabad by President of India
The President of India, Pranab Mukherjee had inaugurated Bansilal Malani College of Nursing established by the Mahila Dakshata Samiti (MDS) in Hyderabad on December 24.
Speaking on this occasion, President Mukherjee said, "there is a phenomenal shortage of about 2.4 million nurses in our country...and there are only 1.56 million last year. At the same time, our infrastructure also comprises of just 1.53 lakh health sub-centres, 85,000 PHCs and about 5000 Community Health Centres in a nation of 130 crore people living in more than 5000 towns and 6.4 lakh villages."

President Mukherjee stressed that it is essential to look for models where in all stake-holders participate rather than the government alone.

On this occasion Union Minister Dattatreya garu, Dy CM Mehmood Ali saab and the Governor were also present.

Mahila Dakshata Samiti (MDS) headed by Saroja Bajaj has been doing yeomen service for women empowerment in Hyderabad. Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, MP Chevella, was also one of the guests of honor.

MP Vishweshwar Reddy urged youngsters, both boys and girls, to consider nursing as a career option. There is a great shortage of Nurses Globally, especially male nurses.

"My own first cousin is a Nurse. He is Highly respected, Earns a very good salary, he enjoys his work and is now promoted as an Hospital Administrator," said Reddy.
