Comic Con India: A treat for comic lovers
Dilli Haat is scheduled to play host to the second edition of Comic Con India, scheduled to begin from February 17 to enthrall comic lovers around the capital. The first edition was a resounding success.

HOW OFTEN have you discussed about your famous comic books such as Richie Rich, Chacha Chaudhary, Batman, Tinkle, and Tin Tin, with your friends? Have you ever done so, after you became an adult? It must have been a long time back. But with the second edition of the Comic Con India scheduled to start on 17th February, comic lovers of various ages would come and be a part of the event, which is scheduled to start at Dilli Haat, and will be on for three days.

Childhood memories will spring up, as the event promises to be a grand one. Around 80 participants, 20 new launches and 35 interesting sessions will be taking place at the venue. “There is a lot of scope in the sphere of comics and graphic novels. The secret agenda of the Comic Con this year is to give independent publishing a platform,” said Jatin Verma, who conceptualised the event, reported Hindustan Times.

The period between mid 90s to 2004 did not witness good sale and readership among comic book followers, reported DNA in September 2010. The major publishers are expecting to better their sales. Events like these are only going to make it more popular. The first edition of the comic can took place last year in February, where several comic books were sold.

The event will provide a chance for many young artists and cartoonists to display their skills and impress the audience, which is expected to churn out in numbers. Hence, there are a number of newcomers in this field along with well known Indian and international publishers, who would be launching their work at the event. This event could be a great launching pad especially for young artists, as events like these is not very common in India. The creativity displayed by the people in the industry has not been well recognised. Comic Con India will provide them further encouragements, when they come to know that their work has been noticed and appreciated by many a people.

Other things that would be attracting eye balls are the sales of superhero customes, along with other fancy dresses for girls such as Cindrella and Alice in Wonderland, reported Hindustan Times. For those who are interested on know how to create comics, the event will be a great platform as animators will be conducting seminars and interactive sessions.

Last year, there were around 15000 fans that had come for the event. It was a huge success and the organisers must be expecting the event to be bigger this time around, as they have great things to offer.
