The much awaited theme song 'Jiyo Utho Badho Jeeto' of Commonwealth Games 2010, has been unveiled by Grammy and Oscar winning composer AR Rahman at glittering function on August 28.
MUCH WAITED theme song ‘Jiyo Utho Badho Jeeto’ of Commonwealth Games 2010 was unveiled by Grammy and Oscar winning composer AR Rahman at a glittering function in Gurgaon on August 28, 2010. The song calls upon everyone to participate in the October 3 to 14, 2010, mega sporting event in India’s capital New Delhi. Noted choreographer Shyamak Dawar’s troop performed on the beautiful theme song ‘Swagatham’ in a gala ceremony. The theme song was recently cleared by the group of ministers headed by Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy.
Question is - Will AR Rahman’s theme song for Commonwealth Games be as big a hit as Shakira’s Waka Waka (This time for Africa), the official song of FIFA World Cup football 2010?
First of all both singers have a different way to perform and the lyrics are different. Comparison between international stars is logical. Commonwealth Games theme song is pegged to have two versions with different music wherein most of the lyrics are in Hindi with a touch of English in it while Shakira’s Waka Waka was entirely in English language. We can’t evaluate Shakira’s killer body, her dancing skills and mind-boggling dance steps with AR Rahman during a concert as they both have different styles.
In my view, the CWG theme song would definitely be something different which the tourists will carry back to their nations. I agree with AR Rahman that the song would go beyond Shakira’s chart buster Waka Waka it will be more complex and difficult to explain. Since, this song has many forms of music and different from western music; it will give great platform to promote Indian music and India as a nation. Let us hope that it will be worth the wait.
.Theam Song sung by A R Rehman, is not at the Mark copare to A R Rehman's all other songs. Only due to A R Rehman ?? No body is thinking about the Words of the Theam Song and with this wordings, possible A R Rehman might not perform well possibly. If the words can be changed of this Theam Song,,,,, ARR can do best ,,,,,,,,,, BEST LUCK to all of you.
.No Doubt A R Rehman is the Best. But it seems he did not concentrate fully lively lovely. Same time must try Mr. Shanker Mahadevan and Mr. Adnan Sami and find out the best considering its International Mega Event tobe India's Pride Globaly. Best Luck to All.
.Rehman has been moving away from his roots for quite some time now. Since he got an Oscar for "Jai Ho", he seems to have completely turned his back on his Indian roots. As of now, he uses his Indian roots only to further his career in west. I do not blame him but it disappoints me. He is still a good musician (genius? a BIG NO!). The CWG theme song clearly demonstrates how far away his heart has moved, from India. He announced months ago that he had intended to stop making music for Indian movies so that he could concentrate on his International career. It is sad for his Indian fans that made him what he is today. This theme song, he seems to have created just as a business assignment. It looks like a mix from various other songs, done as a side job while trying to get some international contract. His heart and soul is not there in this song and even Rehman cannot deny that. All talks about his remuneration are meaningless chatter because an artist should get paid his price and the amount depends on the business managers who are involved in the deal. It is significant only to the exchequer, not to the music fans. For us, who love great music, we need our Rehman back, the Chennai boy, who grew up creating mesmerizing music for his people in Chennai and expanded to all over India without diluting his essence. Unfortunately, international recognition has done him too much harm and he is trying to impersonate as somebody who he is not. Rehman, please come back. We say it because we love you. We hope you would not take us for granted because in some ways our memory is very short. If your music cannot reach to our heart, you would not find a place here either.
.The spirit of song is sporty but could not catch the pulse of even RS'FANS , What to talk of others.India has given a lot to Rn .He could have waved off his fee in national interest.
.I've always admired AR Rehman's music but this time he is way of the mark...the song is a total disconnect andhe should re-work on the composition because there is still ample time...the complete song and Dawer's choreography lacks energy and drive ...the song is neither humable nor does it have a catch melody and that "India Bulaya" sounds bizarre!!
To say its too late is not true - where everything is late let athis also join the same band-wagon but atleast we'll get something like "Jai Ho" Infact it would be a better idea to convert that into the theme song.
.I am an avid music lover and have great regard for AR Rahman as a musician. I beg to differ as the CWG theme song is more like a lullaby which will make the nation and the world sleep. I think this song suits any bollywood movie like Chak De India types. My humble request to AR Rahman is to quickly compose another CWG theme song which has an acceleration and fire leading to taking the crowd on their heels. Pls do it fast....!!!
.It will be a good solace if the theme song will be a success and earn us goodwill to offset some of the serious shortcomings in our preparedness for the games. In the present day globalised world, every country's plus and minus points in infrastructural development, health and hygiene, roads, etc. are very well-known to foreigners. Therefore, in stead of becoming nervous about the visible impact of our infrastructure, we should concentrate on ensuring that the visitors do not suffer on account of bad food, water, etc. and should go back hale and healthy, as well as culturally well-fed. The success of the theme song would therefore be very crucial.
