Commonwealth Games officials duck RTI on serving Beef
SERVING BEEF AT COMMONWEALTH GAMES 2010? It refers to recent RTI response by Organising Committee for Commonwealth Games 2010 wherein their Public Information Officer has utilised all means to evade a clear reply.
It refers to recent RTI response by Organising Committee for Commonwealth Games 2010 wherein their Public Information Officer has utilised all means to evade a clear reply on aspect of serving beef during forthcoming Commonwealth Games to be held at New Delhi.

TO A simple query, ‘Will beef be allowed to be served/used in any form during forthcoming Commonwealth Games 2010’ seeking reply only in ‘Yes’ or ‘No’, an unnecessary lengthy, confusing and out-of-context reply was given by the Commonwealth Games officials. The response stated that Organising Committee of Commonwealth Games has decided to provide nutritious meals to participants during the games-time as per guidelines of Commonwealth Games Federation, thereby evading any reply on serving beef.

RTI response reached after two months instead of stipulated 30 days with so many manipulations done in chronology of handling RTI petition dated 05.05.2010. Strategy seems to avoid giving a concrete reply by adopting evading and delaying tactics at different stages of appeals till the games are over in October 2010. Strict-most action should be taken against officers of Committee for obstructing information sought under RTI Act apart from making a public-announcement about serving or not serving beef during Commonwealth Games at New Delhi.
