Competition controls and conditions to dehumanise individuals: Some thoughts and a non-poem
Many thinkers, philosophers and spiritualists have decried competitions and ambitions since they dehumanise people owing to being based on wrong assumptions of life, living and development.

According to thinker and philosopher Osho, wrongfully, both our social learning and institutionalized education are based on competition and conditioning. He deems that competition is bane of the society and states, "We have been taught to struggle, to compete – and how can friendship exist with a competitive mind? How can friendship exist when you are ambitious?..So the priests and the politicians go on talking about friendship – and only enmity exists in the world. Only enmity can exist if you teach competition, ambition. So everybody goes on pretending friendship, and deep down everybody is antagonistic to everybody else." He questions, "How can you feel friendly with a person who is a competitor with you in the world?"

He also questions the structure of education which is built not on love but on competition and conditioning through reward and punishments as well as comparative judgments. He advises, "There is no need of any competition with anybody. You are yourself, and as you are perfectly good. Accept yourself."

In respect of ambition, thinker J Krishnamurti says, "Ambition breeds mediocrity of mind and heart; ambition is superficial, for it is everlastingly seeking a result. The man who wants to be a saint, or a successful politician, or a big executive, is concerned with personal achievement. Whether identified with an idea, a nation, or a system, religious or economic, the urge to be successful strengthens the ego, the self, whose very structure is brittle, superficial and limited."

Here is a non-poem to illustrate what happens when competition and ambition / talentism are taken as unchallenged assumptions in education, social and economic development.

Humans are meant / To think reflectively / To feel empathically / To learn collaboratively / To co-exist peacefully / To live as a web of relationship.

Beware / Competition and ambition stoking are / For control / Through division / Through rivalry / Through conflicts within and without / Through strengthening personal ego / Through reward and punishment / Through conditioning and behaviour shaping / through spread of greed and jealousy

The truth is / For equity, inclusion and liberty / Go for cooperation / Go for collectivisation / Go for universal wellbeing / Go for multi-modality
