Condolences continue to pour in for late Union Minister Anil Madhav Dave
President of India Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President M Hamid Ansari, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Cabinet have expressed profound sorrow at the sad demise of Anil Madhav Dave, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Environment, Forest and Climate Change at New Delhi on May 18.

The President has said, "I am sad to learn about the sudden demise of your brother, Shri Anil Madhav Dave. Shri Dave rendered commendable service to the nation as Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Environment. He made important contribution as member of various Parliamentary Committees during his 8 years as Rajya Sabha member. His tenure as Minister of State (IC), Ministry of Environment was distinguished by extensive efforts to conserve nature and protect the environment."

The Vice President & Chairman Rajya Sabha in his message said, "I am deeply grieved to learn of the sad demise of Shri Anil Madhav Dave, Minister of State (I/C) of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. His departure is a personal loss. Shri Dave was an active and respected member of Rajya Sabha since 2009, and his presence would be missed by all who worked with him."

Prime Minister Modi in his message said, "Absolutely shocked by the sudden demise of my friend and a very respected colleague, Environment Minister Anil Madhav Dave ji. My condolences. Anil Madhav Dave ji will be remembered as a devoted public servant. He was tremendously passionate towards conserving the environment."

The Union Cabinet, in a Resolution passed at a special Cabinet Meeting, noted that in the passing away of Anil Madhav Dave, the country had lost a veteran and distinguished leader who held many eminent positions as a Member of Parliament and as Minister of State (Independent Charge) Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

The Cabinet met under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family on behalf of the Government and the entire nation.

Meanwhile, President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has directed Dr Harsh Vardhan, Cabinet Minister to take charge of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in addition to his existing portfolios.
