A row erupted over the inauguration of one of the blocks of a state-of-art eye hospital with a provision of 30-bed, on the premises of the Civil Hospital in Ferozepur at a cost of Rs.4.20 crore. The local Congress MLA Parminder Singh Pinki brought in to the notice of Punjab's health minister Surjit Singh Jyani that his name was missing from the inauguration board.
The Congress MLA showed his resentment over the
working of the state government. Later Jyani took Pinki along with to
unveil the foundation stone with a promise to replace it.
Later, both shared the dais but once again a dispute
surfaced when Pinki was not given time to address the function. Both
the Congeress and Akali-BJP workers were seen exchanging hot and
unparliamentary language even over mike.
In the meantime there was a thunder storm and heavy
rain and function could not continue after the speech of Director
Health and both Jyani and Pinki had a press conference.
After the press conference, Pinki, the Congress, MLA
while taking to media persons separately said that it was an official
function and stage has been handed over to some official of the
health department instead of any local party leader.
It is being claimed that the proposal was taken up
with Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal by the local MLA Parminder
Singh Pinki to fulfill the desire of the residents of this border
area for specialized eye treatment as there was no eye care hospital
in the entire Malwa belt.
