Congress has called for a state-wide Chaka Jaam or blockade in Uttar Pradesh today in order to express their solidarity with the farmers of Bhatta-Parsaula post the transportation of Rahul Gandhi and Digvijay Singh to New Delhi by the UP Police.
FOR THE agitating farmers of Bhatta-Parsaul village, Wednesday morning was quite different for them as they had two Congress general secretaries amidst them who sneaked into the village on motorbikes like an ordinary citizen by dodging the Uttar Pradesh police, clad in white kurta-pyjama Rahul Gandhi and Digvijay Singh were able to make inroads into the village which had section 144 imposed till Tuesday.
Surprising to see was the Congress Uttar Pradesh state president Rita Bahuguna Joshi who also took a ride on the bike in order to reach the site where Rahul Gandhi sat on a dharna along with the farmers and assured them that he would not leave the place till the demands of farmers are met and a proper investigation is conducted in the incident in which farmers were brutally assaulted by the UP police.
Rahul Gandhi reached the village around 6 a.m. on a bike. He was accompanied by senior leader Digvijay Singh who lambasted Mayawati government said it was shameful to see how the government had been behaving with the poor farmers. MP from Firozabad Raj Babbar was also present on the occasion.
The leaders were later arrested by the UP police and when the AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi and Digvijay Sigh asked the police officials to present the legal documentation under which they were being arrested, the police officials in return failed in producing any document rather they carried them to the police station in Noida from where the UP police took them to Delhi and dropped all the Congress leaders there.
The Congress has given a call for “Chakka Jam” today in the state.
The UP police have also arrested a youth with a pistol who was standing near the Congress general secretary, Rahul Gandhi, when he was moving away in his car. Later the SPG officials took the youth where they have been interrogating him about his role.
