N Kiran Kumar Reddy-ruled Andhra Pradesh's Congress government emerged victorious from the no-confidence motion moved by Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and supported by YSR Congress and other opposition parties. The motion was defeated by 84 votes in a head count by division.
The no-confidence motion was moved by TSR legislature party leader E Rajender. It got 58 votes in favor and 142 votes against. The total number of neutral MLAs was 64 with the main opposition party TDP also remained neutral.

According to media reports parties like the Congress and others are thinking of taking disciplinary action against some of their rebel MLAs who ignored the party line.
In the defence of his government, the chief minister Reddy highlighted the numerous development and welfare programs being implemented by the government. He alleged that opposition parties moved the no-confidence motion as they feared a rout in the ensuing local body election and without a valid reason.
Among other burning issues the opposition parties picked the issue of power crisis as the main ammunition to attack the Reddy government. However, the TRS said since the Congress failed to implement its promise to form separate Telangana state, so it was forced to move the motion.
