Congress Jyotiraditya Scindia walks the ramp to promote chanderi
Congress leader and Member of Parliament, Jyotiraditya Scindia and actress Aditi Rao Hydari walked the ramp for a show titled 'The Road to Chanderi' at the opening event of FDCI's Amazon India Fashion Week (AIFW) Spring Summer 17'.

Scindia, who represents the Guna constituency in Madhya Pradesh, has also lent his voice to a documentary aimed at the revival of Chanderi weaves from the state's Chanderi town, which was also opened during the fest.

The documentary was shot by designer Samant Chauhan, and was commissioned by Sunil Sethi, President of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), which organises the bi-annual fashion event.

The show opened up on Wednesday, at the NSIC Grounds, Okhla, and will conclude on Sunday. The first two days of the fest are dedicated to the power of Indian handlooms and textiles. More than 16 designers showed their work on the first day.

The collections shown by the designers exuded simplicity in classy and wearable colours like cream, pale yellow, grey, dull silver, peach and green.

The designers together created four ensembles each, to encourage designers to incorporate Chanderi into their work culture and boost the weakend crafts sector.
