Congress leader criticises BJP for misleading people
The partition took place because of 'Divide and Rule Policy' of the British empire and the communal politics of Mohammad Ali Jinah who is adored by the BJP leaders, oneof whom was expelled for making pro-Jinnah statements.
Capt. Praveen Davar, Secretary AICC, who is here for the last three days in connection with various party programmes, including paying tributes to Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, has ridiculed the statement of Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, BJP leader in Assembly holding Congress responsible for partition of India and for granted separate status to J&K.

In a statement, the AICC secretary has said that the senior BJP leader is misleading the people by distorting history and trying to cover up the follies of RSS which, despite being founded 22 years before independence, never took part in the freedom struggle and only added to the communal environment which led to the partition of India which Congress leaders led by Gandhi, Nehru and Patel tried their level best to prevent. The partition took place because of “Divide and Rule Policy” of the British empire and the communal politics of Mohammad Ali Jinah who is adored by the BJP leaders, oneof  whom was expelled for making pro-Jinnah statements and is now reportedly returning to the BJP.

Capt. Praveen Davar said the Vajpayee government which was in power for 6 years, itself realized that Art 370 was irreversible and did nothing to undo it despite it being in its previous poll manifestoes. Mr. Chaman Lal Gupta is advised to read history and not make statements aimed at dividing the people on communal and regional lines. The people of J&K have proved time and again that they stand by secularism, peace, inter-regional harmony and equitable development of the state.
