AS EXPECTED, Congress is leading in both Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly elections, the counting for which began on Thursday morning (October 22), and final results are expected by afternoon. Congress-NCP combine is leading in 104 assembly constituencies in Maharashtra, while the party is leading in 26 seats in Harayana.
In Maharashtra, which has 288 assembly seats, opposition Shiv Sena-BJP coalition is leading in 66 seats, whereas MNS led by Raj Thackeray is leading in 11 constituencies. Congress leader Narayan Rane, Praniti Shinde, Omraje Nimbalkar and many senior leaders are leading in their constituencies.
In Haryana, Indian National Lok Dal led by Om Prakash Chautala is emerging as the main contender against Congress led by Bhupinder Singh Hooda. In Arunachal Pradesh, Congress is leading in ten assembly seats and the party has already won three seats without any contest earlier.
With Congress likely to win the polls in Maharashtra, different factions of the party have already getting ready to fish for the chief minister's post. NCP led by Sharad Pawar has already floated the idea of rotating the chief-ministership.
