Congress on its austerity drive
In this season of hardships and economic downturn, Congress leaders are exhibiting austerity voluntarily. But it should be made a rule rather than adopting voluntarily, so that political rulers of other parties may also have to adopt the same.

IT IS good that Congress leaders including ministers and parliamentarians are in race to exhibit austerity after a call was given in this regard by Congress President Sonia Gandhi. But firstly, all such measures should be made a rule rather than adopting voluntarily so that at least political rulers of other parties may also have to adopt the same.

Secondly, an honest desire of Dr Manmohan Singh while taking charge as country’s Prime Minister in the year 2004, for not misusing government-funds for his photo-publicity should be made a rule, so that Central and state governments together with their undertakings and other agencies may be barred from photo-publicity of living persons in government-advertisements.
