In his letter dashed to Sonia Gandhi, CSHF central committee general secretary K Ravi Kumar demanded Sonia Gandhi to take corrective measures so as to impress upon the Hindu population that the Congress party will take care of them too. For this, CSHF suggested that she should immediately nominate two more Hindu leaders as Vice Presidents of the AICC. This will boost the Congress party’s image among majority community of the country. Among two new Vice Presidents to be nominated, one should be from the Southern states and the second one may be from the Northern states, he added.
Kumar cautioned that in a country where more than 80 per cent of people are Hindus and the population of Christians constitutes only about 2 per cent, the people may believe the leadership of the major political party Congress is being hijacked by Christians. He fears that this may be suicidal decision for the party in an election year.
CSHF also took objection to the Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde’s allegations from the AICC dais against RSS and BJP, accusing them of training Hindu terrorists in their meetings. It warned that it may also send wrong signals to the Hindu population of the country. CSHF lamented that Shinde’s comments were unnecessary and may lead to contempt of court as cases referred by him are before various courts. It is not expected from a Home Minister to make such irresponsible allegations from the party forum, it added.
