Congress releases Lok Sabha manifesto; makes tall promises
For the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, the Congress party has released its manifesto in which it promised right to health, more injection in infrastructure, poverty alleviation, pension schemes, a big push for affirmative action in private sector jobs and other people- friendly initiatives, as well as inclusive development.
The Congress president Sonia Gandhi,
Vice President Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh made
speeches during the release of the manifesto and attacked the BJP on
several parameters i.e. on its economic record, its vision for India
and the rhetoric of its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
Sonia Gandhi said that after
vice-president Rahul Gandhi's consultation with people from different
parts of the country, this manifesto has been prepared.
"Rahul consulted with people
from different parts of India and incorporated their suggestions and
aspirations. As it was not possible to include all suggestions in
this manifesto, we will bring out the rest of the suggestions in the
next few days,” said Sonia Gandhi as reported by TOI.
On the occasion of releasing the
manifesto Prime Minister Manmohan Singh stated that it attempts to
cover the basic needs of all the sections of society from farmers,
the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes, women and children.
Meanwhile BJP spokesperson Ravi
Shankar Prasad while addressing media on the issue of Congress
manifesto said that the manifesto is nothing but full of false
