Connecticut gun rampage in an elementary school shocks the world

A 20-year-old gunman, Adam Lanza, shot at least twenty children and seven others including himself and his teacher-mother in cold blood at a suburban elementary school in Connecticut in the US on Friday. The incident is described as one of the worst mass shootings in an institution in the American history.

SANDY HOOK Elementary School was the scene of the heinous crime and most victims were children in the age group 5 to 10 years. On hearing the news, worried and panicked parents rushed to the school searching for their children as little children covered in blood were being carried out of the building to various hospitals.

Reportedly, the gunman walked into a classroom and shot his mother, 20 students, five other adults before killing himself.

After the incident, visibly moved and almost in tears, US President Barack Obama addressed the nation saying, "Our hearts are broken today, for the parents, and grandparents, sisters and brothers of these little children and for the families of the adults who were lost."

I got the news through my Facebook friends from US who conveyed the following:

Horrified at what people are capable of. What one person can do to that many kids and families! Where were the security guards? Who was watching the cameras? Isn't that what they're there for? My heart goes out to those families. Prayer will get you nowhere. Help them by tactical means, not religious. That's how people can help!" wrote friend Jennifer Bierbaum.

My aunt Jeya Pande posted the inset picture and wrote thus on the facebook, "There are no words. I am beyond sick about this. It's too horrific and tragic for words. Our love, thoughts and prayers are with those precious children and adults who were ripped away from their loved ones, from their life and for all their families and loved ones. Our love and prayers are with you."

Very painful incident most unfortunately it is repeating agin and again putting questions on civilian security. When things are adverse, nation must show more strength and resilence. However agian unfortunately having claimed ahead of the world, US lost its lead to maintain human values during the periods of recession and high cost of living. My condolences to the families of victims and pray Lord to give them more strength.

really shocking news before christmas eve. god provide heavenly abode to innocent children and give enough power to their parents to bear the sorrows followed after the incident. its time to really study and take action why this type of incidents occur routinely in usa.
