Controversies are nothing new for Luke Pomersbach
Playing in IPL 2012 for Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Australian first class cricketer Luke..

UNFORTUNATELY, HIS history suggests that wherever he has gone, whether in Australia or here in India, he has created headlines not with his performance in cricket but for the bad reasons. Luke Pomersbach, who began his first class career with Western Australia in 2006, has always been embroiled in different controversies.

In the latest incident, he has been accused of molesting an Indian-American women Zohal Hamid in a five star hotel ITC Mourya in New Delhi on the evening of May 17. According to Hamid, Luke tried to kiss her and punched her fiance badly when he tried to stop Luke. This happened in the post-match party for IPL players where RCB players were enjoying their win over Delhi Dare Devils.

This is not the first time Luke Pomersbach has been involved in a controversy. In the past, he was suspended from the team for drinking after the match against Queensland along with his star player Shaun Marsh in November 2007.

In August 2009, he was charged in a hit and run case while driving under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested after assaulting a police officer, and was accused of obstructing the police, and escaped legal custody quite narrowly. But Luke was found guilty and was fined and had his driving license canceled.
The WACA also suspended him indefinitely for his misbehavior. On 6 October 2009, Pomersbach was given an extraordinary driver's license to use public transport. He returned from his ban to play for Western Australia in January 2010. In October 2011 he left Western Australia due to some personal reason.

All these controversies were bringing him into news - and none of it involved his first class performances. He never played for the Australian national Cricket team - except once - on December 11 2007, Luke was due to play a T20 match between Australia and New Zealand because of a sudden back injury to Brad Hodge during warm up. Luke was taken as an emergency player, and made his international debut. In that match he made 15 of 7 ball including scoring a six on the third ball he played.

Even after having some good performances in the 2008-2009 IPL, in which Luke played for Kings XI Punjab, he did not get any chance to play in this edition on behalf of RCB.

The latest on the molestation case is that he has got bail but he has also been charged under various sections of IPC including section 354 of IPC (outraging modesty of woman), 323 (hurt), 454 (lurking house trespass) and 511 (Punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment).

The RCB owner, Vijay Mallya, has assured that he will not be on the field for the team until he clears his name. According to reports coming in, the last incident might mark the end of career of this controversial cricketer as a tough judgment is expected from the court.
