Heavy vehicle is now proving to be fatal in India. Early on Monday morning, a fast running dumper crushed a head constable on Sohna Road near Bhondsi village in Gurgaon. The driver of the vehicle has been arrested. According to the Police information, so far this month there has been a number of accidents due to heavy vehicles.
According to Police, Senior Constable Narender Kumar, 35, from Palwal, he spotted an auto laden with gunny bags on Sohna-Gurgaon Road around 4.30 am on Monday. He stopped the auto driver to enquire. While questioning the auto driver, a fast running dumper coming from direction of NH-8 run over the cop, who died on the spot. The auto driver and a passenger had also sustained serious injuries. They were rushed to the nearby hospital.
In the meantime, the dumper driver managed to flee from the scene but was later nabbed by the police from his village in Ferozepur Jhirka, Mewat.
As was reported by timesofindia.com, the investigating officer Arvind Kumar said, ''We have lodged an FIR against the accused dumper driver and taken vehicle in custody.'' The dead cop's body has been handed over to his family after postmortem. For further procedure, the accused driver will be presented in court on Tuesday.
Hitting and running has been a common occurance in Gurgaon for some time now. But the fact that a cop has lost his life is pushing things to the very extreme, which signifies that they are not afraid of anyone and that is a volatile situation.
