Copy Victoria Beckham, contract 'Poshitis'
You might fall prey to 'Poshitis' if you love to carry your overweight handbag at the crook of your arm. The disease as well as the particular fashion fad is inspired by our very own Spice girl, Victoria Beckham.

While we have seen Beckham's obsession of over-sized branded bags at the crook of her arm, balancing herself in towering high heels, day to day women in India are more often than not seen in a similar manner trying to ape the bouffant hair, handbag and pantsuit.

What these women do not know is the fact that health professionals are strongly recommending against the handbag thing as it can seriously harm shoulders, tear muscles and inflame tendons, India Today reported. This phenomenon of carrying handbags on arm is also being called as 'Arm-Hook Crook' (AHC).

Experts are warning that it can start off as twinges and lead to other serious problems like a muscle pull or a torn ligament. Michael Tanner, Performance Specialist at London’s exclusive Bodyism, as quoted by Mail Online, says, “Carrying a heavy bag has many postural effects on the body. It not only pulls down the shoulder, which can put constant strain on the neck muscles, but our bodies naturally lean away from the side on which we’re holding a weight — in this case a bag. This leaning leads to a tightening of the opposite side of the neck, as well as throwing your shoulders, hips, knees and ankles out of alignment.”

When I discussed the particular trend with a friend, she said, “I myself sometimes carry bags that way, but honestly after a time it gets a wee bit uncomfortable. As for the problems because of that, I don't think it is going to change a thing. We knew about heels and problems associated with them but have we stopped wearing them?”

Although, she has a point but now at least people know and have a choice of not doing that, especially if you have trouble with your shoulders. Moreover, large handbags are a passe as more and more sling bags are making it to the fashion arena.
