Seems like CM YS Reddy has outclassed his predecessor Chandrababu Naidu, breaking new records, mainly on corruption front. It has been a relentless swindling of money by the parties, leaders, ministers and bureaucrats all the while under YSR's regime
EVER SINCE the Congress party regained power with a thumping majority in Andhra Pradesh in the last assembly elections, chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy has been creating history and breaking new records, mainly on corruption front, outclassing his predecessor Chandrababu Naidu.
Though the biased mainstream media never attempted to cover these corruption stories, it has been a relentless swindling of money by the parties, leaders, ministers and bureaucrats all the while. Come elections, money is spent in crores, hands are exchanged, travel to some destinations, etc.
Mobilising and supplying such huge money is the only sure way to prove your royalty to your own party in Delhi. Though there have been simmering dissidents against YSR, he could be able to muster confidence of Sonia Gandhi against all odds, as he has succeeded in providing huge party funds. It is also rumoured in business circle that for any inauguration of any business or industry venture, the CM demands anywhere between two to three crores for just cutting the ribbon and spending few seconds on the dais. This is the golden opportunity for the business group to grab a group photograph with the CM, which can do magic, as it would work as a shield from any future eventualities like income tax, CID or CBI raids. Two-third of such collection is transferred to the Delhi high command, and one-third is retained. Hundreds of scams have been reported by local newspapers over the years involving thousands of crores. Real estate is on the top list. The recent scam that has been busted by the media is a Rs 1,000 cores worth of forest land, grabbed by some private persons and institutions in Chilkur near Hyderabad. 500 acres of forest land has been illegally registered in the names of some private persons and business houses. An assistant registrar has been placed under suspension in this connection. The most shocking gesture of YSR, which almost rocked the state was the one when he appointed KVP Ramachandra Rao, the most powerful and de-facto CM, also known for his corrupt deeds by which it earned him the nickname ’Collection King’, as an advisor to newly constituted ‘Public Relations and Welfare Committee’. Rao was considered a de-facto chief minister of the state. He successfully handled the government contracts and other money exchanges involving thousands of crores. The opposition took on CM very strongly for Rao’s appointment. It is obvious that since it is election time now, and mediators like Rao is indispensable asset for the CM, for handling money running in crores. By this appointment, the CM has secured his position to face the forthcoming elections.
