CoSA organises rally on global warming and climate change
After the rally, a workshop on climate change and renewable energy was held wherein the importance of renewable energy to limit carbon at 350 ppm as against present level of 390 ppm in the atmosphere was highlighted.

A CYCLE rally was organized on atmospheric effects of carbon at Berhampur in Odisha by CoSA, a social organization based in the state.

The rally asked to take up the challenges to keep carbon out of the atmosphere on the basis of global climate change. “Coal use is one of the human activities that releases significant amount of carbon. There should be initiatives across the globe to use and promote clean and efficient energy solutions,” it urged. 

Realizing the importance of sensitizing people on human induced global warming and climate change, Council of Social Action (CoSA), a Berhampur-based NGO, in collaboration with India Beyond Coal campaign organized the rally at Courtpetta, Berhampur on the promotion of renewable energy observing as global day of action to reduce carbon in the atmosphere. 

A large number of students participated in the rally that was flagged off by Siba Sankar Dash, the Mayor of Berhampur Municipal Corporation, to initiate the programme in Berhampur city. 

Along with the students, Mayor of BMC and Santosh Kumar Patnaik Secretary, CoSA were a part of cycle rally, which covered Tata Benz, Giri road, Kahallikote College road, Subba Rao square. 

Following the rally, a workshop on climate change and renewable energy was held wherein the importance of renewable energy to limit carbon at 350 ppm as against present level of 390 ppm in the atmosphere was highlighted. The resource persons were Dr.Purushottam Sahu, Lecturer in Economics, Gopalpur College, Dr.S.N.Bej, Coordinator Eco Club, Ganjam District and Mrs. Sanjukta Samal, Deputy Mayor, BMC. The meeting was facilitated by Mr.Santosh Kumar Patnaik,Secretary, CoSA, Berhampur.
