Cosmetic surgery is witnessing boom in India
As incomes grow, men and women alike are ready to shell out big bucks to achieve the desired look. The result - cosmetic surgery is witnessing a boom and it has seen tremendous growth in the past five years. Everyone is interested in looking young and attractive.

Dr. Gangadhar Sundar, Aesthetic Oculoplastic and Oculofacial Surgeon says, "In the past cosmetic surgery was something for celebrities, it was only for the rich and famous. But what is different about the economy today is that, the celebrities had it in the past, but it is now affordable with very minimal downtime and good results to an average common man,” reported NNIS.

According to an international survey conducted by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), India has been ranked fourth with 8,94,700 surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures. It shows the interest of Indians in looking good, and this is not only restricted to the feminine class but the men are also getting attracted towards it.

Dr. Shubra, Facio Plastic and Plastic Surgeon from Hyderabad says that, “India is already in the first five countries, as far as the aesthetic cosmetic surgeries are concerned and if, I go by the statistics in the next 10 years we will definitely be in the top.” It has achieved the highest growth rate both in value and volume term amongest major countries. The people who go for the cosmetic surgery feel that it is worth the money they are paying for it.

Indu Arora, one of the patient feels that, going to beauty parlor and getting the facial and threading done is a painful process. It sometimes even leaves some patches on the skin. And she feels that getting cosmetic surgery is a better option. She says that, “It is quite beneficial and I got a good glow on my face and the patches were removed. And it also gives you confidence.” The trend which started with celebrities to look perfect on screen, is now in the reach of many. And the way the things are going, this sector has good times ahead.
