Councillors are only a signature authority for MCG: MCG Councillor
There are a number of problems that the residents of Gurgaon face on a day to day basis, but these concerns are hardly taken note of. The local councillors are helpless against the situation, as the general meeting does not even take place on a regular scale. ''It was three months ago that the general meeting of the MCG took place,'' said Rishi Raj Rana, MCG Councillor, Ward No. 1.

He further said, ''What can the councillors do when the meeting does not even take place. What agenda can one single councillor come up with as well, when the meeting is just for a few hours in three months?'' Councillors in Gurgaon (35 in total) needs to be given powers to carry out their work. ''We are just the signature authority for the MCG,'' said the councillor.

The Councillor claims that the MCG also does not even address the problems of residents. Though, Gurgaon is said to be one of the best city to reside in, there are a number of problems, which the local residents have to deal with such as water, electricity, bad roads, security issues, pollution etc. This reflects upon the lack of planning on MCG's part.

Rana said, ''The local problems are not addressed by MCG. Even if there are complaints, it goes to the dust bin.'' People with higher position in the MCG work as per their whims and fancies. ''These people work for their own benefit only. The local population is left behind,'' said Rana.

But, blaming MCG does not seem right as well, as Rana puts it aptly, ''The Haryana government should include people, who will cater to the demands of the locals. Haryana government has made MCG a doll to play around with.''

With Gurgaon generating a revenue of around 40 percent to the Haryana government, it is imperative that the state government puts a special foot forward to help develop the city with better administration.
