Councillors corner MCG Chief over the corporation's advertisement policy
In its latest house meeting, Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG) officials along with their chief had to face some tough questions from the councillors who asked them to explain where revenue from advertisements was being utilized.

Councillor Mangat Ram Bagadi of Gurgaon’s ward number 10 raised the issue. He alleged forgery was happening in allocation of advertisements to private companies and the revenue was not being utilised for further development of the city.

“Private company Exlo and Edward were permitted to advertise on 72 unipoles at a rate of Rs 19 crores for a year but agencies have installed more than 72 uni-poles. This happens with the connivance of MCG officials,” Bagadi alleged.

He said that MCG still needs to collect more than Rs 13 crores from this company but officers in the corporation are not willing to collect this money. This, according to Bagadi, looks suspicious too. “I have asked MCG why they are not taking any action and what is the reason behind giving undue protection to agencies and trying to protect private companies. Because of this Gurgaon and MCG are running into losses,” Bagadi told this citizen journalist .

After hearing councillors’ questions and concerns, the commissioner promised to carry out an investigation in this matter, and asked the officials present in the meeting to follow up with a quick action.
