The court granted bail to former UCIL former Managing Director Vijay Gokhle, former Vice President Kishore Kamdar, former Works Manager J Mukund and former Production Manager SP Choudhry. The bai was granted by Chief Judicial Magistrate RV Singh.
DESPITE THE the huge uproar over the Bhopal gas verdict and the consequent formation of the Group of Ministers’ on the issue, the law is taking its due course. And a Bhopal court today granted bail to former Union Carbide chairman Keshub Mahindra and four others, who were convicted on June 7 under various sections of law.
The court granted bail to former UCIL former Managing Director Vijay Gokhle, former Vice President Kishore Kamdar, former Works Manager J Mukund and former Production Manager SP Choudhry. The bai was granted by Chief Judicial Magistrate RV Singh.However, two officials KV Shetty and operator SI Qureshi were not granted bail due to their absence. The bail was granted after the convict had filed an appeal against the June 7 verdict, which had convicted them of negligence and sentenced under section 304 A, 336, 337 and 338 read with section 35 of the IPC.
The Court had awarded them imprisonment of two years along with a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
