CowParade-2012 is being organized from September to November in North Carolina this year, according to a newsletter of the organisers of the event. Life-size colourfully painted fiber glass sculptures and statues have become stars for visitors.
THE NEWSLETTER informs that the first seventy-five cows went on public display beginning Sunday morning. The event began in the year 1999, when the first event in the US was organized in Chicago.
Claimed to be the largest and most successful public art event in the world, CowParade has been organized in over 75 cities worldwide so far. Over the years CowParade has become an international public art exhibit that has been featured in major world cities put up at different public places of the host city.
The concept of CowParade has its origin in Zürich as local event but it was brought to the United States by a Chicago businessman in 1999, as an international fund-raising event in the form of the public art project.
