Cricket: India gifts test crown to England

ONCE AGAIN India bowed to England’s excellent performance, which caused the world number one in test rankings lose its title in a humiliating manner. No Indian was expecting such a disastrous result from the current test series, which has left cricket fans and enthusiasts with a sad heart, though people know this is only a game. Indians are very passionate about cricket, and the reason for such emotional drama at the loss of the series.
In such precarious conditions, it becomes the duty of the players, selectors and the BCCI, the richest cricket board in the world, to figure out the cause of the defeat and overcome the situation for better performance in the future.
Out of the four match test series, India, under the supervision of newly appointed coach Duncan Fletcher, has lost three as well as the test crown.
Right from batting, balling to fielding tired India was outclassed by determined English team. After scoring 224 in the first innings, thanks to M S Dhoni’s 77, Indian spineless balling could not defend the score and allowed the opponent to cross the mammoth 700 only to be defeated by an inning and 242 runs. Poor balling allowed AN Cook to score brutal double century, while EJG Morgan took advantage of the toothless attack to hit a ton.
To avoid inning defeat India needed 486, but the lackluster batting performance proved a nightmare and they were bundled out, this time, at the score of 244. Again captain MS Dhoni was the highest scorer who exhibited a little resistance and was not out at 44.
Still the Indian cricket fans are optimist and hope the fourth and last test match, which is to be played from August 18, will prove a salvage factor and Indian players will not leave any stone unturned to stop themselves from going to a whitewash.
