Crime incidents witness a boom as elections get underway in Allahabad
As the state machinery gets busy with the electioneering in the state, thieves and criminals go about with their activities with a free hand. February, as has been observed has turned out to be a boon for criminals who have looted cash and jewellery worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

THERE HAS been a perceptible increase in crime incidents in the month of February when the criminals went about doing crimes with impunity. Out of these incidents nine are still to be worked out and the police are still groping in the dark. One of the main reasons for this state of affairs was the implementation of model code of conduct and this period has acted as a boon for the criminals.

 

On Sunday night retired Store Superintendent of UPSRTC, Mr. Raj Karan Tiwari, 72, son of late Kalka Prasad Tiwari, resident of 202/ 8, Tularambagh under George Town police area, was stabbed to death by unidentified persons when he was alone in his house. In this connection an FIR on crime No. 54112 under Sections 302, 306 IPC was registered but police failed to work out the murder case.

 

Similarly on February 19, CRPF constable, Avinash Dwivedi, 32, son of Pratap Narayan Dwivedi, resident of Jera under Meja police area, was shot dead by four masked motorcycle-borne men in Barwa village when he was going to a temple along with his friend. Earlier, on February 17 night armed dacoits raided two bullion trader, Lal Bahadur Jain and Babu Lal Jain, and looted ornaments and cash worth Rs. 10 lakh. In the same village dacoits after killing Sanjay Jain, 30 and Gauri Shankar, 25, sons of bullion trader Banwari Lal Jain took away cash and ornaments worth over Rs. eight lakh.

 

On February 10, Arun Dwivedi, 24, son of late Shambhu Nath, resident of LalaKoan, under koraon, was brutally murdered by unidentified miscreants after which his body was thrown in bushes in Sansarpur village. A day before on February 9, valuables were looted from an Iraqi lady Liqaa, resident of Ansal Priyadarshani apartment, opposite YMCA School, near Circuit House. Liqaa, who is M.Sc. Horticulture student in Agriculture University was returning to her flat on a rickshaw along with her brother Mohammad and was carrying 9200 US dollars and Rs. 90,000 in cash, mobile phone in her bag, which was looted by two motorcycle- borne miscreants. A FIR was lodged in Cantonment police station, but police failed to nab the culprits.

 

Rs. 6000 in cash and ornaments worth Rs. two lakh were stolen by thieves from the house of bullion trader Shiv Das Swarrikar, resident of Koraon on February 3 night, after making Shivdas and his family members captive. The month augured well for the anti-socials when on February 3 noon, a suitcase containing Rs. 40,000 was looted from the cashier of State Soil Testing Laboratory.

 

On February 21, about half-a-dozen dacoits raided the ornaments shop of Sunder Lal Kesarwani, resident of Lalgopalganj, Nawabganj and looted away supervisor worth over Rs. two lakh. Similarly the family of a furniture trader Musthaq Ahmad, resident of Dahiyawa, Holagarh, was made captive by thieves who entered inside the house by cutting the channel gate of the shop attached to the house. From where they took away Rs. 5000 in cash and ornaments.
