TRY TO develop few hobbies related to your profession. Some hobbies that are very useful in personal branding (for all professions) are reading, writing and meeting new people. Reading is very critical to stay upto date while writing is critical to convey your expertise to the world. If you are very poor at writing taking the help of ghost-writers may be the only option but even if you are average at writing, develop this skill as it is critical in conveying your knowledge and expertise to the world.
Meeting new people and being able to be truly connected with them is another hobby, which can play a crucial role in the development of your brand. Hobbies can also have direct relevance for specific careers. For example, travelling and meeting new people are two hobbies, which are very useful for salespeople. Understanding human psychology can be a good hobby for behavioral trainers.
If you do not have any profession-specific hobbies, try to make a list of hobbies that can be useful for your profession and then analyze if there is anything that you enjoy doing. If you are a print journalist but you like photography, go for it as it will be professionally useful sooner or later. In these days of convergence journalism, it can play a critical role in your career. Do not have a rigid mindset. Keep exploring the endless lists of interests and hobbies of like-minded people, and also people in the same profession. I have noticed that a large majority of life-coaches and trainers have an inclination for spirituality globally. Indeed reading spiritual literature and using spiritual tools (e.g. meditation) are good hobbies for professional and personal growth in these careers.
