Curriculum revision has been advised by a central minister to stop the wastage of food at social functions and marriage parties. But, one wonders how kids are responsible for it and how curriculum revision will help to amend this bad habit! Isn't it just an addition to already overloaded curriculum?
KV THOMAS, Minister of State for Food and Consumer Affairs, has suggested that the lessons against food wastage should be included in the school curriculum so as to stop the wastage of food during various social functions.

Thomas feels strongly about wastage of food during weddings and believes kids are responsible for this act. The minister said that he had taken up the matter with the Union Human Resource and Development Minister Kapil Sibal recently.
"I have written to Kapil Sibal, as well as the state chief ministers and food ministers to have this subject as a part of the curriculum, so that the younger generation will understand the need for controlling the waste of food," Thomas told media persons recently.
Thomas also added that the print and electronic media should sensitize the public on the issues of misleading advertisements, bad food habits and wastage of food.
But, one wonders how the textbook lessons will be helpful in stopping food wastage in the parties and social functions? Our education system itself has become problematic due to low systemic quality and faulty classroom practices. Many people feel that children are wasting their lives in schools and the school governance requires an overhaul rather than adding the curricular load on students by adding new lessons.
