Customisation of local needs would lead to expansion of world market: Subhash C. Kashyap
A two day International Seminar funded by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) was organised in Kalindi College, DU. The main theme of the Seminar was "Glocalization and Federal Governance in India: Understanding the Emerging Issues."

In the inaugural session, Dr. Anula Maurya, Principal, Kalindi College asserted that the process of globalisation is incomplete without encompassing the locals and hence the dictum of this convocation is to move from "Globalisation to Glocalisation".

She believes educating young minds on Federal Governance policies will be the substructure of framing the future.

Chief Guest of the event, Constitution expert Padma Bhushan Dr. Subhash C. Kashyap on comprehending the emerging issues of Globalisation said that the customisation of local needs would lead to the expansion of world market.

He further stated that the nearest example of Glocalisation being the global trading of the locally sculptured idols of Hanumana, Rama, Lakshmi, Ganesha manufactured in China.

With reference to the concept of centripetal and centrifugal forces functioning around the world, he explained as the uniting and diversifying tendencies of the nations and how the contradicting aspirations of global village and the ideas of decentralisation come together to form Glocalisation.

Guest of Honour, Prof. Beryl A. Radin, Georgetown University, Washington D.C, shared how India's transition from colonization to independence and its development inspired her to research on Indian Governance strategies.

She being a scholar of American Federalism directed her analysis on Indian Constitution and the social scenario of the nation, hence realised how the concept of federalism and glocalisaton is the need of the hour.

Prof. Virendra K. Malhota, Member Secretary, ICSSR, congratulated Kalindi College on completing 50 glorious years of establishment and wished luck for further endeavours.

The seminar included a mix of lectures, technical sessions and case studies through interaction with participants and students. Eminent personalities, political scientists, scholars, thinkers and academicians presented their research papers. Discussions revolved around significant topics like fiscal federalism, cooperative federalism, party system and federalism, neo federalism and national security, etc.
