EVER SINCE Shibu Soren's surprising act of voting against the Cut motions brought in by the left wing parties in Lok Sabha on Tuesday speculations indicating a re-alignment of forces in Jharkhand have been pouring in. The much awaited move by BJP against Soren's betrayal took place with Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) taking back the support from Shibu Soren led Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) government.
The high drama was put to an end today on 28th April, 2010 by BJP and its twelve member Parliamentary Board, who decided to end the four month long honeymoon with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha headed by Shibu Soren, the current Chief Minister of Jharkhand. The Cut Motion which was brought in to axe the UPA government has in turn cut the BJP & JMM alliance in the state of Jharkhand. While the saffron party is not ready to buy the explanation given by JMM MP Hemant Soren, son of CM Shibu Soren that it was merely a 'human mistake' and the party does not want to side the Congress party in any manner what so ever.
While the Congress has not shown up any sign of supporting JMM, BJP was quick to show, who the real boss is. According to the reports, BJP has called Jharkhand Deputy CM Raghuvar Das for a consultation meeting in Delhi. The top brass of BJP had called Soren's move to side with UPA as a shocking one and an act of 'clear betrayal' while calling it UPA's unethical practice of political tactics. Now with the BJP's withdrawal of support, the JMM government is reduced to a minority. Till now the JMM party strength in Jharkhand Assembly was supported by 18 MLAs of BJP, 5 members from All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), 2 from Janta Dal (United) and 2 independents. Therefore, if Shibu Soren wants to continue in as a Chief Minister of Jharkhand the only option before Soren is to seek support from Congress and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha- Prajatantrik (JVM-P) which if combined together would give 25 seats in support to JMM.As of now the picture in the Jharkhand Assembly continues to be grim with cut motion turning its tide against the opposition parties cutting BJP and JMM alliance.
