THE CYCLONE Phet is building up in the Arabian Sea. It has intensified into a Category 4 storm with winds of over 130 miles (210 km) per hour, was forecast to weaken before hitting Oman's southeast coast, according to storm risk forecasts. hat is a super cyclone.

Cyclone Phet has reached Oman in the Arabian Sea. The Indian Meteorological department has said that the cyclone Phet's surface winds would reach upto 200 kmph. Currently the cyclone is moving towards the coast of the Gulf, Arab state of Oman after whicchanging tracks and reach the coast of Gujarat.


More than 11,000 people have been evacuated from the state's coastal areas. According to the reports at least 6 people have died due to severe storms in Gujarat.


The Meteorological Department has said that the cyclone will bring more rain over Gujarat and Maharashtra. Already heavy rainfall has started in many coastal districts including Jamnagar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Bharuch, Surat, Rajkot, Ahmedabad and Vadodara. The Gujarat state has been put on alert, fishermen have been warned against going to sea and people have been told to avoid going outdoors.


Chief Minister Narendra modi reviewed the measures at an emergency meeting, directing the district administration to be on the alert.
