Dada fans feel betrayed by SRK?s decision
The angry masses of Kolkata burnt effigies of both SRK and John Buchanan to express their anger at the treatment meted out to Sourav who led the KKR squad in the first season of the Indian Premier League
THE DECISION of Shah Rukh Khan to ditch Sourav Ganguly and agree to the idea of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) coach John Buchanan to anoint Brendon McCullum as the captain for the first encounter in Indian Premier League (IPL) has not gone down well with the people of Kolkata. The angry men of Kolkatawallahs burnt effigies of both SRK and John Buchanan to express their anger at the treatment meted out to Sourav who led the KKR squad in the first season of the IPL.

Our readers would remember the great camaraderie between the Badshah of Bollywood and the Prince of Kolkata. During the first IPL season they were seen together inaugurating the outlets of KKR mementoes in multiplexes of Kolkata. SRK had earned a lot of goodwill for himself in the City of Joy. But the sports lovers here feel betrayed by the sudden removal of Sourav as the captain.

More so, because SRK had assured Sourav all along that ‘KKR means Dada’ and he would remain in the saddle. It also hurts the Kolkata folks to see their beloved Dada and SRK in the ad of a mobile service provider. It’s so obvious that the commercial was important for Shah Rukh and that is why he kept the pretence of siding with Sourav even though he had made up his mind to try out Buchanan’s formula.

.Serves right for SRK. Not that I hate him, but feel pity for him. He chose to support John Buchanan who has never played first class cricket over DADA who is undisputedly the most successful captain in international cricket.
