Dan Wheldon, who had earned a name for himself in the sports racing industry, died in an unfortunate race accident as his car was flung in the air during a race at Las Vegas motor Speedway. Around 12-15 cars were involved in the accident.
OCTOBER 16, 2011 would be remembered forever in sports racing history, as Dan Wheldon, one of the well known drivers in the sport died an unfortunate death after his accident in 2011 IZOD IndyCar World Championship at Las Vegas motor Speedway. The accident was horrific as around 12-15 cars ran into one another at full speed in the 11th lap of the race, and Wheldon's vehicle flew in the air. The flames were soon set ablaze in many of the other cars and it was Dan Wheldon, who was the unfortunate one who lost his life in the crash. Before the race had commenced he had promised to put up an amazing show, as reported by mirror.co.uk, but who knew that it would be his last race.

After the accident, there was a state of chaos, but the authorities did the best they could in order to save his life, as he was airlifted from the circuit to the hospital. The racer has left behind his wife and two children who always supported him and he loved each one of them very much. He left us all in a state of shock with his death at a very early age of 33 years.
Motor racing sport, which is considered to be full of thrills and spills, showed how dangerous the sport is by taking away a life of a racer who started karting at the age of four. The sport has always given high importance to safety measures but still these kinds of accidents happen, which is unavoidable. Some accidents are bound to take place, even with the best safety measures in place for the drivers and cars. The IRL IndyCar Series Champion in 2005, Dan Whheldon, surprised many F1 drivers such as Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton, as Jenson Button remembered racing alongside him in Karting. He was a racer who was looked upon with lots or respect in the circuit.
