JAMES BLAKE, one of the local favourite has been knocked out of the US Open 2011. He was defeated by David Ferrer from Spain, who won the match in straight sets, where the score read 6-4, 6-3 and 6-4 to reach the third round of the competition. The crowd present in the match were impressed with the quality of the game that was witnessed in the court. The match lasted for an hour and 54 minutes.

Though, as the scorecard might suggest that the match was very easy for the 5th seeded player of the competition, David Ferrer. It was not. James Blake, who does not give up and fights till the last was strongly supported by his fans, as he was challenging each and every shot that was thrown to him by David Ferrer. Still, the Spaniard looked strong on the court. As usual, Ferrer in one of the best players in the circuit, when one is involved in long rallies.

The fans were pleased to witness some great rallies that were played between the two, with both players playing some wonderful ground strokes. The American, James Blake, also tried to fire up his fans and they responded to him very well, but they could not stop the Spaniard to out settle the American player.

In fact, it can be said that Blake was short of ideas as Ferrer was hitting winners and on the other hand Blake hit many unforced errors, which put the Spaniard in good stead during the match. When the game finished, Blake was all praise for Ferrer and said that Ferrer can make other players look worse in the court than they are.
