David Paterson has launched his campaign for the coming elections. He is going to be challenged for the post by Attorney General Andrew Cuomo. Cuomo has so far collected $16 million in campaign accounts, compared to a dismal $3 million by Paterson
NEW YORK governor David Paterson has launched his campaign for the coming elections with an aggressive campaign speech.
Speaking at a gathering of around 500 people at Hofstra University, the Washington Post quoted Governor Paterson as saying “After all you have heard, there's one rumor I will confirm: I am running for governor this year. They haven't knocked us down yet, and they never will."
His personal life and his job performance have been under the scanner lately, and his speech was a direct response to the criticisms and controversies which he presently has to encounter.
He is going to be challenged for the post by contender Andrew Cuomo. Attorney General Cuomo has proved to be much more popular in the polls. Cuomo has so far collected $16 million in campaign accounts, compared to a dismal $3 million by Paterson.
Paterson was appointed governor of New York in March 2008, after Eliot Spitzer stepped down amidst a prostitution scandal.
