DDCA under the scanner for 'financial irregularities'
After Kirti Azad lodged complaints against DDCA's financial irregularities and their way of handling matters, the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) got into the act and raided the DDCA headquarters.

OFFICIALS OF Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) raided the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) office after Kirti Azad, politican and former cricketer lodged a series of complaints against the association.

Mr Azad lashed out at the DDCA for their alleged corrupt means, membership and financial irregularities. The former cricketer has attacked the BCCI and IPL too in the past.

In this nnis video, Mr Azad said, “The DDCA does not have any inward and outward register, no cashbook. There are many problems with the DDCA.” Mr Azad also does not agree with the manner DDCA has spent their money and has even called the DDCA as a 'Delhi and District Corrupt Association.'

SFIO officials remained in the DDCA headquarters for around 5 hours, during which they asked for clarifications from the authorities about various matters related to Mr Azad's complaint.

Mr Azad also recalls the raid on DDCA in 1992 by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He added, “Cricketers were sad and disappointed, as cricket was getting raped here.” There were many instances when several questions were being asked to the DDCA, but they did not bother to reply. He brings one such instance when DDCA had come to a bad repute for the India vs Sri Lanka Test match pitch at Kotla, which was abandoned due to a dangerous pitch. Mr Azad said, “Many questions were raised, but the DDCA did not answer (anything) related to the financial management and cricket administration.”

But, there is no way out for the DDCA now. They can no longer afford to remain silent. They are answerable to the questions that are going to be thrown at them by the SFIO. If these DDCA officials are found guilty, there are chances that they would be charged for their guilty acts. Interesting times lie ahead, but the truth needs to be out in a fair manner and quickly– for a clean and transparent DDCA to shape up in the near future.
