Dehradun to host national level mass demonstration of yoga on 4th International Yoga Day
The main event of 4th International Yoga Day celebrations will be held on 21st June 2018 in Dehradun of Uttrakhand state, announced an official release of the Ministry of AYUSH.

The main event of Mass Yoga Demonstration on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga (IDY) on 21st June, 2018 will be hosted by Dehradun for which the discussions and preparations have been set rolling.

In was in 2015 that the United Nations had proclaimed that the International Day of Yoga will be held each year on June 21 to promote global health, harmony and peace. Ever since, the observance is being marked by collective 'practice of yoga, meditation, spreading awareness about yoga and adopting it in one's lifestyle by discussing its benefits'.

"Yoga is an invaluable gift of India's ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfillment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature. By changing our lifestyle and creating consciousness, it can help in well being. Let us work towards adopting an International Yoga Day," so had urged Narendra Modi to the members of the UN General Assembly in his address in 2014.

India's PM Modi had suggested the observance during his speech at the UN in 2014 and in the same year the draft resolution for IDY in UNGA was supported by177 Member States.
